EDO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The dream of the opposition peoples Democratic party (PDP) to unseat the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) in the September 10 Governorship election in Edo State, has suffered a major set back, as the Campaign Director for the party’s candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu, Mallam Balarable Saidu, has defected to APC.
Beside himself, Saidu led scores of other PDP stalwarts to cross over to the APC Wednesday during the flag-off of the APC, gubernatorial campaign at Auchi, Edo North Senatorial district.
He explained that he decided to dump the PDP because he spent 10 years in the party without any meaningful development in the Senatorial zone.
He said children and generations unborn will not forgive him and his supporters if they failed to work with the performing Governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole whom he acknowledged has worked assiduously to improve social infrastructures like roads, schools and healthcare in the zone and state in general.
“My brothers and sisters from Edo North, I hereby stand before you people with over 2,000 members from the dying PDP to join our Comrade Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, so that more development can come our way.
“Today, Edo North is like small London. With our son, Hon. Philip Shaibu (Deputy Governorship candidate), joining Godwin Obaseki, heaven is our limit.”
Oshiomhole and other APC chieftains at the event, welcomed the decampees, declaring that they took a wise decision.
