EDO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie- Oyegun declared on Tuesday that a vote for the Party’s candidate, Godwin Obaseki in the September 10, 2016 Edo State governorship election will ensure continuity and consolidation of the massive multi-faceted developments recorded under the administration of incumbent Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Recalling the mismanagement and looting of Edo State’s resources perpetrated under the past PDP rule in the State, Odigie-Oyegun advised voters to avoid sentiments while casting their votes, instead be guided by visible developments recorded under the Oshiomhiole APC-led administration in Edo State.
The APC National Chairman made the disclosure while addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters and APC leaders at the grand finale of the Party’s Governorship campaign held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The rally was graced by President Muhammadu Buhari; APC Governors, members of the Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Ministers, Federal and State legislators and other top party leaders.
Odigie-Oyegun said Obaseki’s experience as a technocrat in public service and in private sector has equipped him adequately to govern Edo State.
He said: “I joined the Governor and Obaseki in some of the campaigns and the thing that gladdens my heart most is that every ward you go to, the people themselves will count for you the projects, the developments in their wards that you have even forgotten. Do you want to give that up? Oshiomhole has done his bit. As you can see, he is very passionate, visionary, committed. But the reality is that he has eight years and not even Oshiomhole can solve all our problems in eight years.
“Today we have this wonderful young man- experienced, a technocrat, a man who has gone through the rigours of the seven and half years of the Oshiomhole’s administration. Is that not a man who is prepared for governance?
“I want to plead with voters, this is not a matter of sentiment. In seven and a half years, the face of Edo state has changed dramatically. Can you imagine what the coming eight years will do for us?
“The message is you have to choose between the progress of the last seven and half years under the Oshiomhole’s APC-led, or ten years of the PDP’s looting and mismanagement of Edo State’s resources. That is the decision on Election Day”, Chief Odigie-Oyegun declared.
