Eden Hazard Accuses ChelseaTeam Mate, Diego Costa of Lying About His Age
Latest Headlines, News, Sports News Wednesday, August 27th, 2014Eden Hazard has suggested that Diego Costa could be lying about his age as the Chelsea star believes his new teammate looks much older than 25.
Costa is one of several new faces at Stamford Bridge this season after agreeing a £32 million transfer from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer. At 25-years-old, he is expected to have plenty of miles left on the clock.
However, people have wondered whether Costa is actually older than his claimed age as time appears to have taken its toll on the Brazilian-born striker. Hazard is just one of many more questioning Costa.
The Belgium winger said: “He looks old, I think he’s old. He is 25 but I don’t know if it is true.”
The comments will bring back memories of Chelsea’s last age-related controversy, which occurred only six months ago. Jose Mourinho was filmed questioning Samuel Eto’o’s age. The Special One hinted that Eto’o could not perform at the top level because he was older than his claimed age of 32.
Mourinho said in February: “The problem with Chelsea is we lack a scorer. I have one [Eto’o] but he’s 32. Maybe 35, who knows?”
Eto’o later branded Mourinho a “fool” for making the comments and also mocked him with his now infamous ‘old man’ goal celebration.
Costa’s impressive start to life at Stamford Bridge has done more than enough to allay concerns regarding his age. The Spain international had a fantastic pre-season and capped his competitive debut against Burnley with a goal.
Hazard admitted that Costa, along with fellow newbie Cesc Fabregas, have impressed their new team-mates.
He continued: “They are very good I think Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas play very well and they are now in the team”
