Ecobank Appoints André Siaka As Interim Chairman
Business News Monday, November 4th, 2013By Frank Omalapeh
ECOBANK Transnational Incorporated (ETI), one of Nigeria’s frontline banks has appointed André Siaka as interim Chairman to head the Board of the bank with immediate effect.
Erstwhile chairman of the board, Mr. Kolapo Lawson has been asked to step aside as he will retire from the board on the 31 December 2013.
African examiner gathered that the ‘stand aside’ decision of Mr. Lawson is connected with series of allegations made to the Nigerian Securities and exchange commission (SEC) on issues of corporate governance against him.
According to a statement released by the bank, “The Board of ETI has appointed independent parties to investigate these allegations and review the company’s corporate governance structure.
“The Board’s decision is to allow for total credibility and free investigation without the interference of Mr. Kolapo Lawson who is the leading person in this process”.
