Ebonyi Governor Faces Impeachment
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Friday, February 27th, 2015From Ignatius Okpara, Abakiliki – The political crisis rocking Ebonyi state, Friday took a new twist as the state House of Assembly served an impeachment notice on the embattled Governor, Martin Elechi.
The House said the decision was informed by what it described as act of gross misconduct by the Governor.
Reading the notice at the plenary, the acting leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nwifruru, had accused the octogenarian Governor, of huge financial misappropriation, undermining the integrity of the House, among other political misgivings.
The motion for the notice was however, moved by Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa and seconded by Hon. Valentine Okike.
AFRICAN EXAMINER gathered that Governor Elechi, his Deputy and PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dave Umahi, Secretary to government of the Federation (SFG) Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, former State Governor, Dr. Sam Egwu, amongst other political leaders in the area have been at logger head, over who controls the ruling party structure in the State.
