Ebonyi Debunks Treating Ebola Patient

The Ebonyi State government Friday dismissed reports that an Ebola patient was receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, (FETHA), saying the information was misleading.
African Examiner Correspondent gathered that the rumour report threw many residents of the state into panic and anxiety.
Reacting in a statement, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sunday Nwangele, described the report as false, explaining that logistics had been put in place to keep the deadly disease in check, in the state.
According to him, the patient whose ailment was rumoured to be Ebola was untrue as he was currently being treated for “peptic ulcer” and not Ebola.
Hear him: “The case of Ebola in Ebonyi as being peddled is a false alarm.
“It’s rather a case of Peptic Ulcer. I want to call on everybody in the State and Nigeria to disregard the alarm. There is no Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Ebonyi State, Nigeria” .
Meanwhile, the state government, the Commissioner assured through its Ministry of Health and the Rapid Respond Team and Treatment Committee was ready to handle Ebola issue. He however urged the public to comply with universal precautions as already established.
