Ebola: FG Convenes Third Health Stakeholders Meeting To Check Spread

The Federal Government has convened third emergency meeting of the National Council on Health (NCH), in Abuja on the outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The meeting, it was gathered is at the instance of the latest Ebola casualty, Dr Ike Enemuo, in Rivers State. It was specifically meant to check further outbreak of the virus in the country, both at the primary and secondary case of the country’s first and index case, Liberian – American, Patrick Sawyer.
The crucial meeting also coincided with Dr. Enemuo’s death on August 22, which was confirmed last week by the Health Minister, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu as well as the outcome of EVD test on his wife, which also confirmed she has been infected with the deadly virus. Rivers state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson made the confirmation.
The late Physician contracted the virus having being in contact with the ECOWAS envoy who also had contact with Sawyer.
NCH is the country’s highest decision making organ on Health matters and it is made up of the Minister of Health, Minister of State for Health, all state Commissioners for Health and Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Health of the 36 states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT).
