Ebola: Doctor’s Wife Dies, One Survives In Lagos
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014It was a mixture of sorrow and blessing in the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as the wife of Dr. Iyke Enemuo who died of Ebola in Porth Harcourt, Rivers State, died on Wednesday in Lagos of the same disease at the Isolation Centre, while another Ebola patient in the same Isolation Centre survived the disease.
Enemuo’s wife contracted the disease from her husband who treated an Ebola patient secretly in Port Harcourt and got the disease.
The death of Enemuo’s wife’s death brings to seven the number of people that have so far died of Ebola while the survival of another victim brought to eight the number of people that have survived the deadly disease.
The federal government also said that so far, 18 people have contracted Ebola in Nigeria with 14 in Lagos and four in Port Harcourt.
The number of people currently under surveillance in Port Harcourt has been put at 255 and 41in Lagos, while 320 contacts have been released after completing the mandatory 21 days observation.
Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu said on Wednesday that another Ebola victim had been discharged in Lagos after being treated and tested negative to further tests carried out on the patient.
