Featured, Latest Headlines, News, Politics Thursday, June 18th, 2015By Abdul Gafaar Bello – Newly-elected Senator, representing Kogi West District, Dino Melaye’s victory has been upheld by the State’s Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Lokoja, the State capital.
Senator Melaye disclosed this on his twitter account Thursday morning, shortly after the judgement was delivered.
“Smart Adeyemi’s case against me at the Tribunal sitting in Kogi has been struck out today. Case close. To God alone be the glory forevermore”, Melaye tweet indicates.
Melaye’s challenger and former occupant of his present seat, Adeyemi was once National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He has been elected twice (2003-2007 and 2007-2011) as Senator.
Adeyemi of the PDP lost to Melaye of the APC in March 28, 2015 general elections.
Melaye who is also formerly of the PDP and former member of House of Representatives, played a frontally role last week, in emergence of the incumbent Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in spite of their party’s (APC) opposition to his (Saraki’s) candidature.
