Irrespective of the mounting resentment, Pochettino affirmed Adebayor was one of the team’s “potential” three captains, saying he had no doubt in Adebayor’s capacity. The Coach also explained that he had in the last seven months – at the takeoff of the season, decided that any of Hugo Lloris, Younes Kaboul and Adebayor could be appointed as the team’s captain.
Coach Pochettino, against all expectations – of the team’s mates and club supporters Wednesday handed the Togolese lad the Club skipper’s armband for the 1-0 first leg victory at White Hart Lane, days after Tottenham supporters’ hostile reception on his return to action after two months on the bench.
When featured as a substitute for the first time, against Sunderland last weekend, after eight weeks of break, ex – Arsenal and Manchester City striker Adebayor was booed by the supporters, yet Pochettino maintained his decision.
