Despite Reconciliation, Headies Expresses Displeasure Over Don Jazzy And Olamide Outburst

Apparently reacting to the altercation and mild drama which ensued last weekend between the master Don Jazzy and street king, Olamide aka Badoo, organizers of the Nigerian locally organized music awards – Headies has expressed its displeasure on the development and condemned act it considered “improper” and the “use of profanity on live television”.
Headies in a statement issued Monday by its secretariat noted “While it is not out of place for an artiste or a party to vent their disapproval, it stressed it condemned provocative comments and “see no use or reason for a disgruntled artiste or party to destroy valuable properties put in place to give them extra comfort before they perform or come on stage. This is totally unacceptable and will be addressed”.
It would be recalled Olamide at the Headies 2015 awards nite after declaration of Mavin Records (Don Jazzy) artiste and pop singer, Reekado as the winner of the “Next Rated artist” of the year, the street Champion Olamide, could not resist his anger and displeasure, as he fired: “Adekunle Gold let’s be honest, this award belongs to Lil Kesh, because Lil Kesh is our Next Rated artist”. He retorted further: “Every single was a hit back to back, from ‘Lyrically’ to ‘Shoki’ to ‘Efejoku’”.
Expectedly, this vituperation did not go down well with the big Mavin Records boss, who immediately hit back when he mocked Olamide, to come for the car attached to the award if he wanted it.
The verbal exchanges had generated mixed comments; arguments for and against both Don Jazzy and Olamide, who purportedly have reconciled and later apologized to their teeming fans at home and off shore.
Headies in its Monday statement indicated that it ensured that the awards happened regardless of sponsorship, and that it gets better with each passing year, without giving excuses about challenges.
“We may not have gotten everything 100% right, but integrity has been our watch-word. The 109 Nigerian artistes that have won can attest to the fact that they did nothing different from those that have not. Awards by nature, are and will always remain, controversial except every nominee gets one.
“We try to ensure that winners are within reach before announcing their category, as the whole essence of celebrating talents will be defeated without that” the awards organizer restated.
The outfit congratulated all nominees and winners and wished them more success in the new year 2016.
