Delta Avengers: Police in Imo Confirm Attack On Shell Facility in The State

Members of the Niger- Delta Avengers, may have carried out their attack threat on Imo state, as the police in the Area on Thursday confirmed an attack on a facility belonging to Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) at Awarra, Ohaji/Egbema council Area of the state.
The militant group, had last Monday threatened to attack Imo state over the continued police detention of members of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and IPOB.
Andrew Enwerem, the state police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, disclosed the attack to newsmen on Thursday in Owerri.
He said “the police received report of the attack in the early hours of Thursday“.
Although, the Imo police image maker, could not reveal the extent of damage done to the facility or the particular group that carried out the attack.
Our Correspondent gathered that the incident occurred at about 5.30a.m
A resident of the community who craved anonymity for fear of the unknown, said the explosion caused heavy flame at the site when it occurred, adding that “I cannot confirm if there was loss of life for now.
Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
