Court Restraints Abia Chief Judge from Swearing-in Ogah as Governor
Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Thursday, June 30th, 2016ABIA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu of an Abia State High Court has restrained the State Chief Judge (CJ) from swearing-in Uche Ogah as the Governor.
A Federal High Court ruled Monday that INEC should immediately issue Ogah the Certificate of Return and withdraw the one with Governor Okozie Ikpeazu.
Ikpeazu was found guilty by court for submitting wrong information to his party and INEC for his party December 2014 Governorship primary contest.
The Governor said Thursday he had after the judgment filed a notice of appeal as well as an application for stay of execution of the ruling.
Despite this, INEC on Thursday issued a Certificate of Return to Ogah, a situation that momentarily created tension and threw the entire South East State into confusion.
