Court Refuses To Grant Sanusi’s Reinstatement
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Thursday, February 27th, 2014An Abuja Federal Court has turned down moves by the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to immediately return to office.
In his ruling Wednesday, Justice Gabriel Kolawole, said: “It is unsafe, judicially speaking to embark on far reaching interim orders which have all the attributes of a mandatory injunction without according the defendant a hearing.”
Justice Kolawole, who refused to grant Sanusi’s request for interim orders to reinstate him, however fixed March 12 to hear the substantive case in which President Goodluck Jonathan, Attorney-General of the Federation, and Inspector-General of Police were listed as defendants.
Mr Sanusi had approached the federal court asking it to order his immediate re-instatement saying the interlocutory application was necessary following serious implication of his suspension as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on his person and the economy of the country.
