Court Bars Deployment Of Soldiers For Elections

From Ganiyu Nasirudeen – A federal high court sitting in Lagos has ruled against the deployment of the Military to the polling units in the coming general elections.

Justice Ibrahim Buba in his ruling, Monday morning held that Military presence during elections as proposed Federal Government, was unconstitutional and anti-democratic.

It would be recalled the leading opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has been in the vanguard of advocacy against the “militarization” of electoral process.
