Controversial Senior Lawyer, Kunle Kalejaiye Loses SAN Title
Latest Headlines, News Thursday, May 21st, 2015By Niyi Adeyi, Lagos – After years of inquiry into his professional misconduct, the Nigeria Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee has stripped Mr. Kunle Kalejaiye, off his Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title.
The action was taken as one of the many possible disciplinary measures against any member of the bar convicted for the offence he was punished for.
It would be recalled the proscribed Action Congress (AC) and his candidate, alleged Mr. Kalejaiye in 2007/2008 was exchanging communication (SMS) with the former Chairman of the Osun State Election Petitions Tribunal, Mr. Thomas Naron, when it was hearing the incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s petition against the former State’s helmsman, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Justice Naron/Kalejaiye MTN SMS log was then widely published, but was persistently denied by the duo, who fired back that the accusation was aimed at dragging their reputations in the mud as well as indict the Election Petition Panel.
The development forced the former President of Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, to disband the Naron-led lower tribunal and reconstituted another panel in line with the appellate court ruling.
