Come And Harness Investment Opportunities In Osun, Governor Oyetola Tells Investors

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Osun state government, has called on local and foreign investors to come and invest in the areas of Agro-business, Mining, Tourism among other sectors, saying the state is richly endowed with no fewer than 25 solid mineral resources.

Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Cooperative and Empowerment, in the state, Dr. Olabode Olaonipekun, made the call yesterday during the Osun special day at the ongoing 32nd Enugu international Trade Fair.

He said investors should come to the state to “harness investments opportunities in the area of agribusiness, mining, tourism and trade and investments.

The commissioner further stated that the state parades up to 20-25 solid minerals that are pleading for exploration and 52 tourists sites with mining are currently ongoing at different locations in the state.

“There is virtually no Local Government Area out of the 30 and the area office making it 31 that does not have at least 15 agro resources that are in commercial quantity.

According to him, “the state parades 20-25 solid minerals that are pleading for exploration and investors to take on.

“The state under Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has come up with revolution in industrialization; under this administration about 7 out of 12 intentions have been flagged up for industrialization either in our free trade zone or in our international trade centre.

There are 52 tourist sites with mining going on in different locations.

“We also have 30 tourist locations to be developed in 2030, youths are being employed in the various locations”, he said.

Olaonipekun further noted that the International trade centre, Dagbolu has seven components: Industrial hub, International market, Storage facilities/ Warehouse, Dry port, Car Mart, Mini residential development, International trade centre/ Railway.

“The pride of our International Trade Centre is the dry port. You can move your cargo/goods from Oshogbo Nigeria to any part of the world.

He added “the international trade centre will accommodate about 39, 000 people

The Commissioner disclosed that Osun state would hold her trade Fair before the end of the year, “We have plans to organize handshake meeting between investors in Enugu and our investment team in the state of Osun.

Olaonikpekun, however used the forum to invite Enugu state to the fair and expressed optimism that the two states will partner each other for a greater economic development.

In his speech, the president of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA,) Sir Emaka Nwandu thanked the governor of Osun state, Chief Adegboyega Oyetola , saying, ” We are indeed very proud and profoundly grateful to His Excellency for making it possible for Osun state to participate in this fair.

“It is on record that Osun state is the first south Western state participating in the Enugu International trade Fair since we moved into this permanent site.

“We congratulate the government and good people of Osun state for this great showing despite all odds.”

The president appreciated the efforts of Osun state governor in the development of the state.

“Let me, acknowledge with satisfaction, the great transformation going on in Osun state through the efforts and pragmatism of His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola’s administration.

“This no doubt had culminated into more investment inflow into the state especially in Agro- business. Today, we can proudly talk about Osun Cocoa as the state has been ranked the second largest producer of cocoa in Nigeria and we have no doubt that it is providing the nucleus to our export drive’

Nwandu commended the commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Olaonipekun Henry Olabode, the directors and staff of the ministry for a wonderful packaging of the Osun state pavilion and excellent participation in the Enugu international trade Fair this year.”

He expressed the hope that the special day will bring back good memories of the colourful, outstanding and performances of Osun state during their special days some years ago at the former Trade fair complex.
