CNPP, CLO Protest In Enugu Over Poor Governance in South East

ENUGU, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO and Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP on Thursday decried the poor attitude of Governors of the five states of South- East Nigeria towards the plight of their citizens, just as they took to the street over the issue.
They noted that the insensitivity of the Governors to the plight of the people of the region has become a source of serious worry to them. .
However, after taking a critical look at the performances of the said governors since their assumption of office, the two organizations, came to the conclusion that they had performed below expectation.
Members of the coalition, had during a protest march round Enugu city over the situation, displayed placards with various inscriptions.
After going round the metropolis, the protesters, moved to the Enugu state government House to register their grievances.
African Examiner correspondent gathered that the protesters decided to stage the protest in Enugu because it is the regional capital of Eastern Nigeria, and where the governors usually meet under the aegis of south East governors forum.
They were received at the government House by Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Elder Gabriel Aja, who addressed them on behalf of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
Addressing the protesters, the Enugu state government Scribe ,thanked them for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves, saying the governor travelled outside the state for an official engagement.
Aja, who received a copy of the address delivered by the group, promised to deliver the message to his principal.
He told the protesters that Ugwuanyi, would equally forward copies to his colleagues in the region, assuring that the two groups would definitely get response to their letter from the governors.
