It was a Christmas day tragedy as fire gutted six flats on Inspectors’ block of Nigerian Police Force, A Division Barracks, Jos and destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.
Confirming the incident, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of Plateau Command, ASP Dominic Esin told journalists on Thursday in Jos that the fire started at about 9:00 PM as a result of power surge from the public power supply.
According to him, “It started in one of the flats at the top floor of the two storey building and spread like wild wind and affected six flats on the floor.
“Only two flats out of the eight on the block survived the inferno after the fire was put out by neighbours and men of the Fire Service”. He added.
He however said that no life was lost in the incident.
