The immediate past Chief of Staff (COS) to Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Mrs Ifeoma Nwobodo has denied a report in a national daily claiming the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) arrested her.
A statement signed by the coordinator of Nwobodo Campaign Organization, Hon. Eddie Nnaji, and made available to newsmen in Enugu Tuesday described the report as totally unfounded and mischievous.
The statement stressed that the ICPC had not even invited Mrs Nwobodo let alone arresting her, adding that the false report was clearly the handiwork of her foes working in concert with the reporter.
Mr Nnaji said, “That report that Mrs Nwobodo was arrested by the ICPC is unfounded, baseless and downright mischievous.
“Indeed, it is clear to us that it was the handiwork of her desperate political foes who have been in the habit of inventing and planting false stories about her in their desperate but futile bid to dampen her overwhelming popularity among her people.
“It baffles us also that the journalist descended to the unimaginable level of outright fabrication and dissemination of such falsehood over some filthy lucre.”
The Campaign Coordinator however, urged the public to discountenance the report because Mrs. Nwobodo was neither invited nor arrested as claimed.
Nnaji added that no such antics would distract her from actualizing her senatorial ambition.
