At last, Justice Abdukadir Abdu-Kafarati of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has reversed his earlier decision to withdraw from ruling on the appeal filed before him by the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki on his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over false asset declaration.
Specifically, Senator Saraki is challenging the validity of his trial at CCT. Given his new decision, Justice Abdu-Kafarati is expected to rule on the appeal this Friday, April 15, 2016.
It would be recalled Justice Abdu-Kafarati declined to continue with the case late March when the case was called for hearing.
The jurist’s earlier withdrawal was due to some online media reports which alleged he has been compromised by the Senate President with the bribe of N2 billion.
The judge subsequently announced his withdrawal from the case, as he held that his integrity had been called to question by the reports, hence, his decision to honorably withdraw from the case.
