Buhari Speaks On Release Of Nnamdi Kanu From DSS Custody
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria Friday, May 6th, 2022(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the court should be left alone to decide the fate of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Buhari disclosed this on Friday when he met with leaders in the south-east at the government house, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state.
African Examiner recalls that President Buhari has been on a two-day working visit in Ebonyi and many easterners have repeatedly called on the president to intervene in the case of the IPOB leader.
At Friday’s meeting, Charles Mkpuma, chairman of the south-east traditional rulers, made the call again.
However, Buhari stated that it is important that the court makes a pronouncement on Kanu’s case.
African Examiner writes that Kanu is standing trial on an amended 15-count charge which borders on treasonable felony.
