Buhari Parleys With Business Chiefs, Expresses Commitment To Industrial Revival
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Monday, February 2nd, 2015By Ayo Balogun, Lagos – The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) Monday morning took time out of the campaign field and met with some business Chief Executives in Lagos to unravel and discuss agenda of his administration if elected into power.
General Buhari disclosed that his government would create enabling environment for industrialization, revive industries, thereby creating jobs for the teeming unemployed Nigerians.
He specified he would revive the textile mills and similar industries.
The opposition candidate pledged he would increase investment on infrastructures as well as open up opportunities via the construction of highways linking various parts of the country.
At the parley referred to as GMB Means Business which held at the Lagos State House, Marina, amidst Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) and some opposition’s party National Chieftain, including the Chairman, Chief John Odigie – Oyegun, General Buhari promised to aid construction of local refineries and announced his support for power reform, so as to increase power generation.
The former Head of State announced that his party supported privatization of the power utilities, but there was need for the similar process to be extended to transmission, noting that the real task of “producing, transmitting and distributing power” has just begun.
“The reason why the success seems elusive is that apart from the signing ceremony and handing over of the power assets, the hard work to connect the various parts of the power chain, supply gas, install transformers, complete substations has not been done” the retired General emphasized.
Beside power, the APC Presidential candidate promised to promote investment in agriculture to boost food sufficiency and jobs creation. He called on Nigerians to have confidence in him and this party, hence, renewed efforts to resuscitate the nation’s economy.
Other APC Chieftains present at the meeting included: Rivers State Governor and Director General of the party Presidential Campaign Organization, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi; Ex – Minister of Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Meanwhile, the opposition party has again pulled out of the Presidential debate organized by a private Television in Lagos.
Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Mr. Dele Alake disclosed this Monday morning, during a radio interview programme.
Alake explained that his party’s candidate was however ready to attend alongside willing contestants debate organized by an independent body and team of professionals.
