Buhari Names INEC National Electoral Commissioner, Zakari, As Jega’s Sucessor
Featured, Latest Headlines Tuesday, June 30th, 2015Following the exit from office today, of former INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday announced the appointment of a National Electoral Commissioner, Amina Bala Zakari as Jega’s successor in acting capacity.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Communications in the office of the Head of Civil Service (HOS) of the Federation, Mr Haruna Imrana.
Zakari’s appointment according to HOS letter is effective from Tuesday, June 30, 2015 until a new substantive Chairman is appointed. The acting INEC Chairman, is an indigene of Jigawa State, as well as a product of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she holds degree in pharmacy.
Earlier in the day, Professor Jega after his first five years tenure lapsed, handed over to another INEC National Electoral Commissioner, Mohammed Wali.
