Buhari Inaugurates Justice Walter Onnoghen As Acting CJN

ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated Justice Walter Onnoghen as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Mr. President conducted the inauguration Thursday, inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with some top government officials in attendance.

Following this, Justice Onnoghen will serve in acting capacity, until the name of substantive CJN is forwarded to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

Justice Onnoghen’s inauguration followed the retirement of the immediate past CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed who just clocked the mandatory 70 years’ retirement age.
