Buhari Fires EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde After A Meeting In Presidential Villa
Latest Headlines, News Monday, November 9th, 2015President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday fired the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde.
No reason was given for the sack of the EFCC chairman who has before now been facing allegation of fraud with the remittances from public officers being investigated for corrupt practices.
Lamorde was already billed to face the Senate Panel on Ethics, Privileged and Public Petition on Tuesday, but the Committee announced earlier in the day that it had postponed the investigation of Lamorde indefinitely.
The decision by the Senate Committee to probe Lamorde, according to Newspot Nigeria may not be unconnected with reports that he had been sacked.
Lamorde had earlier appeared at the Presidential Villa and had held a meeting with the President.
There are also indications that he may have been replaced, but his successor has not been named.
Lamorde took over as the chairman of the anti-graft agency on 23 November, 2011 after chairman Farida Waziri was dismissed by the former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
There are indications that Heads will roll in the EFCC amid allegations that officials of the Commission, most especially on the investigative department have been collaborating with the sacked EFCC boss on corruptive activities.
