Brekete Radio Presenter Arrested For Assault
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Tuesday, May 25th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Ahmad Isah, popular human rights activist and broadcast journalist, has been arrested for slapping a woman who allegedly assaulted a child by the police.
Isah, better known as “ordinary president”, hosts a long-running radio and television programme known as “Brekete Family”.
He recently came under public scrutiny after he was seen in a BBC Africa Eye documentary slapping a lady who allegedly set her brother’s daughter on fire over an allegation that she is a witch.
The video sparked public outrage on and off social media as many condemned the act and others expressed their solidarity with him.
Isah has since asked for forgiveness for his action.
However, speaking with Leadership on Monday, the Brekete Family host disclosed that he was arrested by the police concerning the incident.
“I have been at the police station since morning,” he told the newspaper.
“I have been arrested by the police over the same matter.”
Confirming his arrest by the police in a Twitter post, the organisation said: “Ordinary President, Founder and CEO of Brekete Radio and TV program honoured an invitation to the FCT Police Command this morning.
“We want the public to know that we are yet to see or reach him.”
However, he was later released. No details were given on what transpired while he was with the police.
