BREAKING: Supreme Court Upholds Gov Yahya Bello Election
Breaking News, Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Tuesday, September 20th, 2016ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Supreme Court has upheld the victory of Kogi State Governor Yahya Bello.
Bello’s substitution by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC); his election and subsequent announcement by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner, were being challenged by his co-party man and running mate to the original party’s flag bearer, Late Prince Abubakar Audu, Hon James Faleke and the immediate past Governor, Idris Wada.
The apex court in its unanimous ruling Tuesday held that Bello was validly substituted and the winner of Saturday, November 21, 2015 State Governorship election.
Both Faleke and Wada have earlier lost at both State’s Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Court.
The leading judgment was read by Justice Sylvester Nguwata. The Court also announced that it would make public reasons for its ruling, Friday, September 30, 2016.
