ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The industrial action being embarked upon by members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has been suspended.
The decision to call off the strike was reached at a meeting between the two union leaders, oil companies executives and Federal Government (FG) representatives led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.
The parley which ended early hours of Wednesday followed series of similar meetings which has held in the past, but ended in a stalemate.
There has been worry across the country about possible return of fuel scarcity, if the strike had lingered.
