The former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the August 9 gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Senator Omisore who emerged in a peaceful election conducted by the PDP official led by Alhaji Muhammed Adamu Aliero, with a total number of 1128 votes out of 1186 votes leaving Honourable Wole Oke with 5 votes, Senator Olasunkanmi  Akinlabi with 35 votes and Senator Isiaka Adeleke with 0 votes.

Announcing the result, Alhaji Aliero, urged all aspirants to corporate with each other so as to ensure that the state is won over during the August 9 governorship election.

Earlier, after the accreditation have been concluded, Senator Omisore, Hon. Oke and Senator Akinlabi, embraced themselves promising to work with whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Omisore, thanked all party delegates for their orderliness and the trust reposed in him to take back the trust reposed in him as their choice.

He appealed to whoever that may be aggrieved to forgive and forget whatever that might have happened in the past.

“Let us work together and take back what was stolen from us. I am ready to work with everybody for the interest of our party.”

He berated the high level of debt the state has incurred under the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, adding that there have not be any deliverables in the state rather pensioners are not been paid their entitlements as at when due and civil servants crying before they collect what they have laboured for.

Earlier in his welcome address, the party’s state chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, appealed to all contestants to use their resources to ensure that the party recover its stolen mandate instead of fighting each other.

Olaoluwa said, “there is no winner or loser, let me admonish all aspirants to support the party’s candidate as our ultimate goal is to send Aregbesola packing and Isha Allah Aregbesola will be voted out of Osun come August 9, 2014.”

The Chairman however pledged the party’s support to President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
