BREAKING: Nigeria’s Agriculture Minister Adeshina Elected New AfDB President
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Thursday, May 28th, 2015By Funmilayo Omidiji – The Minister of Agriculture in the outgoing administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina, has emerged the new President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).
Dr. Adeshina who was just elected, succeeded the immediate past President Donald Kabureka.
The outgoing President has sought the support of the incoming President Muhammadu Buhari to give his Agriculture Minister nod to run for the post, culminating in the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar rallying support for Adeshina’s candidature.
Dr. Adeshina has been described by the outgoing President Jonathan as the best Agriculture Minister since he joined partisan politics over a decade ago.
One of Adeshina’s best legacies while in the office is the introduction of E-wallet – a technology that injected sanity and reduced scam in distribution of fertilizer among the farmers across the country.
