The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has cancelled the Saturday’s Anambra state Governorship election held in 65 polling units of Idemili North local government area in Anambra central senatorial district of the state.
According to the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, (REC), Professor Chukwuma Onukaogu, who announced this at about 7pm on Saturday, disclosed that the cancellation was in ward 7 in Obosi area of the local government.
The affected area, falls under the stronghold of All Progress Congress APC, governorship candidate, Dr Chris Ngige, who had continued to complain about unfounded electoral manipulations.
However, professor Onukaogu, said a fresh election in the affected areas has been rescheduled for tomorrow, sunday,17th, 2013 by 12: 30 pm.
Though, the REC was economical with what led to the cancelation, but African Examiner gathered that it may not be unconnected with the incessant complaints by Dr. Ngige.
