Breaking News: Fire Guts Abuja NFF Glass House Amidst Maigari, Umeh Power Tussle
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, August 20th, 2014There was an early morning fire outbreak in Abuja headquarters of the Nigeria’s Football governing body – the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
African Examiner Abuja’s correspondent reports that the fire affected the scribe’s office as well as the account unit on the second floor of the football glass house.
The officials of the fire services have arrived the premises to put out the fire.
The cause of the inferno our correspondent said is not yet known as at the time of filling this report, yet got confirmation of the incident from one of the senior officials who craved anonymity, as the spokesperson could not be reached.
It would be recalled that African Examiner reported on Monday the mild drama which ensued between the just reinstated NFF President, Aminu Maigari when he arrived the headquarters as his ex-vice, Victor Umeh who took charge of the glass house while he (Maigari) was away, refused to vacate the office, despite the Sports Minister, Tamuno Danagogo’s order reinstating Maigari.
Umeh, alongside Chief Segun Odegbami and Taiwo Ogunjobi were disqualified last week from contesting the NFF Presidential election, which is slated for next week, August 26.
Maigari Says Outbreak Destined by God
While commenting, the NFF Boss , Aminu Maigari, said philosophically that the incident was destined by God, saying no need to apportion blame.
He thanked the rescue team, especially the fire service who he said responded promptly to their distress call.
