Breaking: FIFA Lifts Ban on Nigeria, Falconets Ready To Leave for Canada


World Football Governing body – FIFA has lifted the ban slammed on The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) about two weeks ago. The decision was announced on Friday.

The announcement was contained in a letter titled: ‘Lifting of the suspension of the Nigeria Football Federation,’ signed by FIFA Secretary General, Jerome Valcke and addressed to the NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.

FIFA explained in the letter that it received the correspondence of Thursday, July 17 from the NFF and were satisfied that Nigeria has complied with their demands for reinstatement into international football.

FIFA banned the Aminu Maigari – led NFF Executive Committee sequel to alleged financial recklessness and poor administration.

With the latest development, Nigeria can now participate in the FIFA organized football competitions. The country Falconets – U-20 Women’s squad are now free to go ahead with their trip to Canada,F preparatory to the coming Under 20 world football fiesta.

The last FIFA ban was preceded by the arrest and investigation of Aminu Maigari on arrival from the last senior world cup in Brazil.
