Breaking: Buhari Nominates 2 New Supreme Court Justices
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Tuesday, October 11th, 2016ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Sidi Bage and Paul Jauro as Justices of the Supreme Court.
The letter of nomination was read Tuesday by Senate President Bukola Saraki at the upper legislative chamber plenary session.
The President’s nomination is against the background of the approaching retirement of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
It is not clear whether the appointment has any connection with the ongoing clampdown on fraudulent justices by the Department of Security Services (DSS).
The judges were accused of corruption even as DSS claimed that it found a huge amount of money at the home of the arrested judges.
They have since been granted bail on their own merit.
