Chief Obasanjo who had been in the last one year, critical of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, said he would prefer to remain an elder statesman instead of staying in the ruling party.
The ex-president has last week in Nairobi, Kenya declared his support for the opposition APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
Chief Obasanjo also last weekend accused President Jonathan of unwillingness to hand over power and plot to opt for the former Ivorian President, Laurent Gbabgo’s tactics as well as installing an interim government.
The accusation drew spontaneous and offensive attacks from the PDP and President Jonathan’s aides.
