The ban was made in a press statement issued on Wednesday by the state Public Relations Officer, Gideon Jibrin.
African Examiner Correspondent in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital reported that Jibrin said henceforth, hoisting of political party flags on the road median, roundabouts and other public places were illegal.
The state Police Publicist noted that hoisting of political party flags having been constituting nuisance, therefore called on the affected political parties to remove their flags from the roads and streets, while he said the culprits would be punished.
According to Jibrin, flags of political parties were just like the Nigerian flag and were expected to be hoisted within their secretariat, therefore further displayof flags on the public places should be restricted.
