Boko Haram Razed Down Military Camp In Yobe Town
Featured, Latest Headlines Monday, February 23rd, 2015Suspected Boko Haram members have attacked Ngelzarma town, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State, and burnt military camp and trailer loaded with grains, a report from the area has said. No life was, however, reported lost in the incident.
Ngelzarma town is located about 30km West of Yobe State capital, Damaturu. A Daily Trust report has it that the attackers stormed the town and started shooting sporadically around 4pm yesterday.
The report quoted a security source who doesn’t want to be named as saying that the attackers came in a very large number.
“We tried to prevent them from invading our location but we couldn’t. They burnt down a trailer loaded with grains and our lodge (Military camp),” the source reportedly said
A resident, Malam Hassan Aminu, was quoted as saying that people in Ngelzarma had prior information that the assailants were sighted at Fadangara village, few kilometres away from Ngelzarma town.
His words: “We reported to the security operatives but surprisingly they didn’t take any action. The boys (insurgents) entered the town and set ablaze military camp, a trailer loaded with grains and some traders’ shops in the town.”
“The military camp was burnt by the Boko Haram last year, they returned and burnt it again after being renovated by the state government. No action was taken to avoid the repeat.”
