Breaking: Boko Haram On Rampage As Damaturu Under Attack With Heavy Gun Fire, Explosion

There is total break down of law and order in Damanturu, the Yobe State capital early Monday morning as members of the rampaging Boko Haram laid siege on the town.
Sources in the State capital told AFRICAN EXAMINER that the insurgents who had arrived the city as early as 5.00 am from the Gujba, South Eastern part of the town went on sporadic shooting and blasted many explosion, a situation that created fear and commotion among the residents, who subsequently ran for safety.
Consequently, many residents in the areas such as Jerusalem and Pawari, bye pass along Gujba axis, immediately left their abodes and sought refuge in bushes and more safer locations.
Our Correspondent reliably gathered that after a successful over run of the town, the militants were seen moving around the town chanting “Allah Akbar”, while brandishing very sophisticated weapons, as well as sustained shooting and explosion sprees.
The Monday morning siege which casualties are not yet clear affected the State University, as it was attacked by the terrorists.
AFRICAN EXAMINER also gathered that the insurgents have earlier announced the invasion, though not specific about the date and time.
It was also gathered that there was no presence of Military before and while the siege lasted.
Yobe state is one northern eastern Nigerian states under emergency rule following protracted Boko Haram attack and bombings.
