BLACK XMAS: Son Hacks Father To Death In Enugu On Xmas Day

This year’s Christmas celebration in Imilike Agu, Udenu council Area of Enugu state turned sour, on Friday, as son hacked his 60 years old father, identified as Paulinus Ugwuoke to death.

AFRICAN EXAMINER learnt that the ugly incident has thrown the entire community into mourning and tension.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu, who confirmed the development to our Correspondent in Enugu on Saturday, said “on 25/12/15 at about 10pm, Anselem Ugwuoke, had engaged his father with his friends in a serious exchange of words over a yet to be established issue which later resulted in the alleged hitting of the father with an object.

According to him, after hitting him, the man “became unconscious and later was confirmed dead, thereby throwing the community into mourning mood.

“Having noticed what has happened, Anselem and his friends took to their heels”. Amarizu stated.

He said “A full scale investigations have commenced into the alleged incident while manhunt on Anselem and friends have been intensified”

Meanwhile, the Elder brother to the alleged murderer, Sunday Ugwuoke, has expressed grief and shock over the death of their father.

He said “I am still in shock over what has happened, but I know that we will still get Anselem” stated Sunny as he is fondly called.

The State’s Police Spokesman, hinted that the lifeless body of the deceased has since been deposited in an undisclosed hospital for post mortem examinations.

In a related development, no fewer than four persons which including a bus driver, a passenger and two children have been confirmed dead in an auto crash, which occurred on Christmas day.

The mishap happened at about 3pm along Enugu Onitsha Expressway by water works in Umumba Ezeagu local government area of Enugu state.

Confirming the incident, Amarizu said, “it occurred when two commercial buses on opposite directions had a head on collission which left passengers with various degrees of injury and the victims were rushed to our Saviour Hospital and Refuge Hospital respectively at 9thmile corner Enugu”.

“Four of the passengers which included the driver of one of the commercial buses and three other passengers which include two children were confirmed dead while others are receiving treatment.
