A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered unconditional release of the detained Director of Radio Biafra and Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola in his ruling Thursday morning held that detaining Kanu, without prosecution was against the law, hence, his conditional release.
The embattled Igbo group leader has been held over three months ago by the Department of State Services (DSS), over alleged criminal conspiracy and ownership of outlawed organization.
It would be recalled Justice Shuaibu Usman of Magistrate Court, Wuse II, Abuja, Wednesday on the request of prosecutor – the Federal Government (FG) via the DSS, threw out the allegation against Kanu and discharged him on the question of jurisdiction.
Justice Ademola’s ruling came as the DSS prepares to charge the accused to another court of higher jurisdiction.
