Bayelsa: INEC To Resume Collation Of Results As PDP Wins 4 Out Of 5 LGAs Announced

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Collation of results of the troubled Southern Ijaw council area in the yet to be concluded governorship election in Bayelsa state will resumed this morning, by 10 am, INEC has said.
The election which rolled into late sunday night, in the locality, could not hold on the official date, being saturday 5th, December, due to some violence that enveloped the area.
Meanwhile, the PDP was leading in four of the five local government areas declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last night, while the APC won in one.
The council’s areas declared so fa includes, Yenagoa, Ekeremor, Sagbama, Brass and Kolokuma/Opokuma.
Prior to the commencement of the Southern Ijaw election sunday, the PDP had faulted INEC’s decision to continue with the conduct of the rescheduled poll in the locality.
It also accused the APC of skewing the process its favour.
The governorship election in Southern Ijaw local council, which has 120,000 registered voters, became a subject of dispute, after INEC cancelled the exercise following widespread violence, which reportedly claimed five lives in the area.
