Babangida Drums Support For Jonathan’s Re-election; As President Describes IBB As His “Father”

Ibrahim Babangida has described the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan as a lover of the country and called on Nigerians to lend their support to him in his re-election bid.
Babangida made the statement Saturday, when Jonathan visited him at his Hilltop palace in Minna, the Niger State capital.
The self styled former Military President insisted that Jonathan loved and meant well for the country adding that anyone who loves Nigeria should support his ambition to be re-elected the President of Nigeria.
When asked about his mission in the North central State, President Jonathan told newsmen that he visited “his father” – Gen. Babangida, to greet him as he recently returned from abroad on a medical vacation.
“Of course, you know that this is the end of the year. Within this period, people pay visits. So I have come to visit him. You know he just came back from a hospital abroad, not too long ago. Since he came back, we have not seen. I need to see my father to know how he is feeling. I am quite pleased the way I have seen him.”
“Of course, you all know that as a nation, we are facing challenges: security challenges all over, not just in the North. Yes, Boko Haram in the North. The South is not safe: commercial kidnapping and robbery.”
“He is one of our experienced leaders. As somebody who is sitting where he was before, I need to see them from time to time to listen to their suggestions. That is one of the areas how we can collectively move the country forward and ensure that Nigerians live in peace.” President Jonathan stated
In the Mr. President entourage were: the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.); his Chief of Staff, Gen. Jones Arogbofa (retd.); the Director-General of Jonathan campaign Organization, Senator Ahmadu Ali and FCT Minister, Senator Bala Muhammed. The President and his team had a closed-door parley with their host, Gen Babangida.
