Auto Crash Claims 15 lives in Delta
Latest Headlines, News, News From The State Saturday, August 8th, 2015By IGNATIUS OKPARA, Asaba – A total of 15 persons were confirmed dead on friday in a ghastly auto crashed, that occurred at Ubulu Okiti junction in Aniocha South Council Area of Delta.
Delta state Sector Commander of the federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC Mr Rindom Kumven, made this known to newsmen in Asaba on Saturday.
He disclosed that a bus, with registration number, DT 266 B28, enroute Asaba-Abraka, was trying to avoid a head on collision with an articulated vehicle when the mishap happened.
According to him, the articulated vehicle was also trying to tow a broken down truck loaded with iron rods at the time of the ugly incident.
The Delta FRSC boss, hinted that the driver of the bus, on sighting the barrier ahead, attempted to swerve to the other side of the road, but lost control in the process, as he ran into the articulated vehicle.
Fourteen out of the 16 occupants of the bus he said, died on the spot, while the FRSC officials rescued two others and took them to Mother and Child Hospital at Issele-Uku.
