At Last, Okorocha Bows to Pressure, Recalls Sacked 3,000 Workers

Owerri, Imo state (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – At last, the Governor Rochas Okorocha led administration in Imo State, may have bowed to threat and pressure from the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and civil society groups, as it announced the recall of over 3,000 workers earlier sacked in 19 parastatals, departments and agencies.
Okorocha made the announcement Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo state capital in the heat of a protest spearheaded by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.
Both economic and socio activities in parts of the state, including the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri as well as government offices under the NLC were completely shut down to effect the compliance of the protest.
