At Last! Ideye Gets Work Permit; WBA Striker to Face Sunderland in EPL Opener
Featured, Latest Headlines, News, Sports News Tuesday, August 5th, 2014Out of favour Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye will finally be able to start work with the Premier League side this week after his visa problems were resolved.
Ideye joined West Bromwich Albion in a £10 million club-record transfer from Dynamo Kiev two weeks ago, but the forward had been unable to fly to England due to paperwork issues.
The situation has now been successfully resolved and, with West Brom’s Premier League opener against Sunderland looming on August 16, Ideye is keen to link up with his new team-mates as soon as possible.
“So happy to announce my Visa has been issued. Will join the team ASAP,” Ideye wrote on his Twitter account.
Meanwhile, West Brom head coach Alan Irvine is also confident of winning a Football Association appeal hearing into a work permit for Cristian Gamboa.
Costa Rica international Gamboa has already agreed personal terms with the Baggies and passed a medical, but his move from Rosenborg has been delayed after failing the required criteria for a permit.
Although Gamboa played in all five of Costa Rica’s matches during the World Cup, the 24-year-old falls just short of appearing in 75 per cent of his country’s games over the last two years.
“We’re not in control, it’s out of our hands, but I think it would be amazing if we didn’t get this one over the line,” Irvine told Albion’s website.
The club are also believed to be on the brink of concluding a move for Australia left-back Jason Davidson.
The Baggies have had to wait for Davidson to resolve a contract dispute with Dutch club Heracles Almelo.
