ASUU Protests Alleged Assault On Members In Edo
education, Latest Headlines Friday, December 26th, 2014IGNATIUS OKPARA, Benin – THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Benin (UNIBEN) chapter, has raised the alarm over alleged harassment and assault of its members by some suspected hoodlums, over disputed landed properties.
It said it has already filed an appeal against a court judgment issued on the said land which according the body, had been occupied by its members.
ASSU in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina, alleged that some of the academic staff were “beaten to stupor” and their property forcefully thrown out by the hoodlums last week.
The statement made available to newsmen on Friday, further stated that the management of the university had been informed for necessary actions.
The ASSU boss in the state however, called on law enforcement agencies to wade into the matter.
