The appeal Court in Abuja has adjourned indefinitely ruling on suit fileD before it, by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki over the case of false asset declaration and other 13 count charge he is answering before the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Tribunal.
Saraki who had failed in the similar attempt, when he approached the High court, is praying the Appeal court to halt his trial at the CCB Tribunal.
The grounds of his appeal according to his Counsel, Mr. Joseph Dawodu (SAN), include improper composition of the Tribunal members (two members instead of three) as well as the Tribunal’s lack of constitutional power to adjudicate on criminal charges.
Saraki had argued that the Tribunal, by entertaining the suit, contravened paragraphs 15(1) of the 1999 Constitution.
While announcing the adjournment, the Registrar of the court, did not give any explanation for the decision.
It would be recalled the CCB Tribunal fixed last month the next hearing on Saraki’s case for Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
