Arms Scandal: EFCC Arrests Former Air Force Chief, Amosu For Interrogation
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Thursday, January 28th, 2016Former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu has been arrested by the officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged financial misconduct while in the office.
The retired Air Force Chief is to be investigated over alleged fraud in particular, about the questionable purchase of two helicopters without rotor.
It would be recalled two Air Force officers while flying one of the helicopters after being fixed with a rotor from another helicopter, died when it crashed near Yola, the Adamawa State capital last year.
With the development, Amosu will be the first to be invited for questioning by the anti-graft body over sharp practices, after President Muhammadu Buhari two weeks ago directed the agency (EFCC) to beam its searchlight on the retired Military Chiefs, especially their roles on various arms procurement deals targeted to confront the bloody Boko Haram insurgents.
