Arms Scandal: Court Grants Dasuki, Four Others Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has granted bail to the former National Security Adviser, (NSA) Col. (rtd) Sambo Dasuki and four others, standing trial over 19 count charge of money laundering and criminal breach of trust.
Others granted bail Monday by Justice Peter Affect were former Dasuki’s Director of Finance and Administration, Shuaibu Salisu; former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, Sagir and former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda.
Two firms, including Dalhatu Investment Limited and Jabbam Ada Global Services, were also joined in the suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The anti-graft body among others, accused the respondents of misappropriating the sum of N5.05 billion arms money.
Justice Affect granted bails to the defendants, in the sum of N250 Million, with a surety in the similar sum. Each of the accused were also ordered to present a retired or serving public servant who must be in the rank of a Director.
The accused who have pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against them were also ordered to submit their international passport to the Court’s Registrar, while any intended trip outside FCT by them, must be communicated to the court.
The jurist also ruled that the accused must be remanded in Kuje prison until their bail application conditions are fulfilled.
